The Kiwengwa Bungalow Boutique Resort is nestled in a tropical vegetation and shaded by giant palm trees. The resort overlooks the immense Kiwengwa beach, lapped by emerald green waters and intense blue that every day give the incredible spectacle of the african tides. The Kiwengwa Bungalow Boutique Resort is an enchanted retreat from everyday routine life, an exclusive place for both couples and families who want to immerse themselves into African culture, in total relax. The family management combined with the friendliness of the local staff and the excellent service, make this resort the ideal place to spend a holiday cuddled by small attentions.



The bungalows, recently renovated, born 50 meters from the ocean and are surrounded by coconut, papaya and banana trees, flowers and colorful tropical plants. The resort has 14 bungalows in typical local style, located about 50 meters from the sea and framed by a beautiful tropical palm garden set around the pool, and 2 other rooms located directly on the beach with an amazing view on the Indian Ocean. All rooms have a large private patio, bedroom with king size double bed, second bedroom, extra bed available for infant, private fully renovated bathroom with shower.

All rooms have been finely furnished, and are equipped with: air conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito nets, minibar, coffee facilities, desk, mirror, flush shower, hair dryer and hair straightener, courtesy set, towels and beach towels are provided free of charge. Each patio is equipped with a table, outdoor sofas and a hammock.

The attention to detail continues also with the gastronomic proposal. The resort has two fully equipped bars, one on the beach and one in the pool, where you can enjoy fresh tropical juices (Tanzania is a huge orchard that produces a large variety of juicy and sweet fruit), soft drinks and international cocktails.  The restaurant, pride of the resort, boasts the presence of an Italian chef who offers a la carte menu with fusion cooking thus alternating imaginative and thematic dishes and using seafood such as octopus, squid, crab claws, shrimp and many varieties of fish such as raspberries, snappers, groupers, tuna etc.

The menu includes a selection of dishes dedicated to those who prefer vegetarian cuisine, designed to satisfy any palate or lifestyle. Every two weeks the chef will propose a different menu, including a special dish for each menu item depending on the catch of the day.

TREATMENTS: It will be possible to choose between 3 dishes for each meal: appetizer, main course and dessert from the menu. Bottled mineral water will be included at meals.

PRISON ISLAND AND LUCH AT NAKUPENDA (full day excursion suitable for everyone, even families with children)

PRISON ISLAND: also known as changuu Island and accessible by boat from stonetown, it was uninhabited until 1860, when it was transformed by the Arabs into a slave detention site. In 1893, the British Prime Minister of Zanzibar bought Prison Island from the Arabs and built the prison there (hence the name), but it was never used as such. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the spread of yellow fever, Prison Island was used as a quarantine and the prison was converted into a hospital.The island has now become a park full of century-old turtles from the Seychelles, there are even specimens that go beyond the 200 years of age!

NAKUPENDA: (kiswahili means I LOVE YOU) is the name of an amazing sandbank that disappears with the high tide. The atoll is the ideal place to relax, snorkel and admire the coral reef as well as numerous starfish, all surrounded by a lovely sea with the colors that only the Indian ocean can give. A lunch of grilled fish (lobsters, cicadas, prawns, squid and octopus) is offered, as well as fried potatoes and local fruit.

BLUE SAFARI: excursion dedicated to the sea, and suitable for true snorkelers.It takes place in the protected area of menai bay, where you can spot numerous dolphins.The tour also includes the visit at the characteristic blue lagoon and the mangrove way where you can dive into a natural pool and admire a magnificent age-old baobab.Lunch on the beach with lobsters, prawns, squids, rice and fruit.

STONETOWN: visit to the island capital, you can walk through the narrow streets of the old town, enjoy a sunset in the forodhani gardens and go shopping in the hundreds of local shops.Do not miss a visit to the Arabian Fort, the House of Wonders, the Anglican Cathedral and the house of Freddy Mercury.

Visit to the market of Darajani to closely observe a typical “African style” center of commerce.

SPICE TOUR: excursion among the strangest plants in the hinterland of the island, to discover the origin of all the spices typical of zanzibarin cuisine ( Zanzibar is also called the island of spices). Stop also in a local village where you can see the typical mud houses and where you can leave notebooks, pencils, clothes etc. You can also admire the processing of the beautiful zanzibarine doors.

BATH WITH DOLPHINS AND JOZANI FOREST: heading south towards Kizimkazi Bay from where we will sail to spot the dolphins and swim with them.Next stop at Jozani forest, the only national park of the island. Relatively small (only 50 km2), it is a quiet and charming place, which worth to be visit and where you can admire , a sort of red monkey unique in the world. Josani Forest is also populated by groups of Bushbaby (lemurs), 50 different species of butterflies and 40 species of birds. You can’t walk through the park by yourself

MNEMBA ATOLL: located at north east of Zanzibar is a private atoll with controlled access. It is not allowed to dock on the island, the only way to reach it is exclusively by sea.Mnemba is surrounded by the lcoral reef and represents a unique spectacle for snorkeling and diving lovers.

NUNGWI: visit during the journey by bus to the local villages, then head north to the beautiful natural swimming pool where you can swim with sea turtles. The day ends admiring the beautiful sunset from the beach of Nungwi or on a boat in the middle of the ocean.

SAFARI IN TANZANIA: safari can be arranged on request in Tanzania’s national parks.
